Your baby at 15 weeks: first laughs
Medically-informed · Sources: CDC · Updated June 2026
Squeals, chuckles and maybe a full laugh — sound play is the theme of the week.
What’s happening
Laughing out loud
First real laughs commonly land around 3–4 months. Tickles, silly sounds and peek-a-boo warm-ups are the usual triggers.
Push-ups get strong
In tummy time the chest comes up on forearms; some babies start pivoting in a circle.
Early rolling attempts
Side-tipping and half-rolls appear — from now on, never leave baby on any raised surface, even for a second.
What to do
- Move diaper changes to low, safe surfaces now — before the first surprise roll
- Give floor time daily; the floor is the gym
- Answer every sound — pause, reply, pause
When to check in
No smiling at people, or baby doesn't calm with comfort most of the time — mention to your pediatrician.
